Gisela Elizabeth Staub, 91, passed away at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson on Jan. 6, 2015. Gisela was born on Nov. 13, 1923, to Georg and Hildegard Sauerbier in Torgelow, Germany. On Jan. 24, 1946, she was married to Richard Staub in Wiesbaden, Germany. They moved to the United States in 1947 and settled near West Concord where they started the family farm and raised two boys, Charles and Richard. Gisela played an active role in all aspects of the farm. Gisela's hobbies included cooking, entertaining and needlework. Richard and Gisela enjoyed their retirement years in Florida. Gisela was a very sweet and loving lady who touched the lives of everyone she met. She is survived by her husband, Richard Staub, Kasson; son Charles (Joanne) Staub, West Concord; daughter-in-law Torre Valley, Rochester; four grandchildren: Michelle Staub Loreth, Hernando, Florida; Chris (Julie) Staub, West Concord; Erika (Eric Nelson) Staub, Minneapolis; and Carl Staub, Denver, Colorado; and five great-grandchildren: Gabriela, Chloe and Brady Staub and Caden and Tristan Loreth. She was preceded in death by two brothers and her son Richard (Dick) Staub. A celebration of life with family and friends was on Sunday Jan. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Concord. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in West Concord or the West Concord Historical Society.
