After a few days off, the Dodge County Wildcats swung back into action on their home ice Friday, Jan. 9, and it turned into a laugher for the home team. Dodge County blasted Rochester Mayo 13-0, scoring five goals in the first, five in the second and three in the third. The Wildcats defense held Mayo to just six shots on goal for the entire game. Offensively, Dana Rasmussen had another outstanding game, scoring seven of the 13 goals. Bella Wagner added two goals, and four other players scored a goal each. BP's Elly Strunk counted one of the goals and added an assist in the game. The team improved its record to 14-3 for the season and is 6-0 on home ice. Currently, Rasmussen ranks first in the state in goals scored, and she is fourth in points, as well. Community night Wildcats girls hockey is a cooperative sport that is made up of players from eight school districts. The schools of Blooming Prairie, Byron, Dover-Eyota, Hayfield, Kasson-Mantorville, Pine Island, Triton and Zumbrota-Mazeppa make up the Wildcats co-op.
